陸軍特別大演習は、陸軍の師団同士が相まみえるような大規模の演習で、天皇が統監を務め、大正期よりほぼ毎年実施されてきた。演習とともに天皇の巡幸が行われるため、地元にとっては一大行事となった。天皇の名古屋到着から城北練兵場での分列行進の親閲、統監初日二日目の演習風景が、航空撮影を交えながら細かく描かれている。TOPもENDもない。タイトルは調査資料に記入された題名に準拠している。

「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1913年から1941年までに製作された40作品を新たに公開いたします。今回の公開では、とりわけ1920年代後半から30年代初頭までの作品を中心に、軍国主義化が進行していく時代相が描かれているとともに、大衆文化の爛熟ぶりをうかがうこともできます。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。

With main focus on the works in late 1920s and early 1930s, the selection reflects the growing militarism while portraying matured popular culture.
