★ポルシェ ボクスター(986)に関して
1996年、初代986シリーズが登場。
名前の由来は水平対向エンジンを表す「ボクサー」（Boxer）と、オープンカーを表す「ロードスター」（Roadster）を掛け合わせた造語である。

リアトランクの後ろには電動式リアスポイラーが装備され、120km/h以上で立ち上がり空気抵抗を4%、リアアクスルのリフトを31%低減している。
またスポイラーは80km/h以下で格納されるが、スイッチでの手動操作も可能である。

プラスチック製のアンダーボディパネルは空気抵抗を10%低減し、リアのリフトを33%も減らす働きをしている。

駆動方式はMR、ミッドシップに搭載される可変バルブタイミング機構バリオカムを装備した、水冷水平対向6気筒DOHC24バルブエンジンは、2480ccの排気量から、最高出力204ps(150kW)/6000rpm、最大トルク25.0kg・m(245.2N・m)/4500rpmを発揮した。
