★トヨタ MR2 1600G (AW11) 1989年式に関して
1984年に初代AWシリーズとして登場、車名は「Midship Runabout 2seater」の頭文字から創作された造語である。

日本車史上初のMRレイアウトのスポーツカーであり、日本やアメリカでカー・オブ・ザ・イヤーを受賞している。

1986年に行われたマイナーチェンジ（後期型）では、バンパーやサイドモールが車体色と同色に統一された。
更に1988年の一部改良では、電動格納ドアミラー、ぼかし入りブロンズガラス、トランクスポイラー内蔵LEDストップランプの設定が行われ、内装生地の変更が行われた。

搭載される直列4気筒DOHCエンジンは1580ccの排気量から、最高出力120ps (88kw) / 6,600rpm、最大トルク14.5 kgm(142Nm) / 5,200rpmを発揮した。
