It's a familiar story among my foreign friends who visit Japan; they are almost always captivated by the energy like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto. One minute they are marveling at the organized chaos of Shibuya Crossing, and the next they are finding peace in a quiet, hidden shrine. For many, it's the combination of incredible food, culture, and a feeling of complete safety that makes them wish they could stay longer.

We rely on public transport to get around.
In Singapore, I used taxi apps in addition to the MRT. The fares seemed lower than they were three years ago. Unlike in Japan, where I avoid taxis, Singapore is small enough that most rides are affordable at around 2500 yen. I was also impressed with the new MRT lines, which make it easier and faster to travel between stations and visit new parts of the island.
