スポーツ360/500を始祖とするホンダスポーツ・シリーズ（Sシリーズ）の最終型として1966年から1970年迄生産された。

S800Mは1968年に登場した海外向けの仕様であり、先代のS600と同様に、オープンとクーペをラインナップしていた。

フロントディスクブレーキや13インチラジアルタイヤ、オートチューニングラジオ、ヒーター、サブマフラー、更にフロントフェンダーやリヤクオーターにはサイドマーカーが装着されており、当時のコンパクトスポーツでトップクラスの性能を備えた伝説のモデルであった。

ケイヒン製のCV型キャブレターが4連装されたオールアルミ製水冷直列4気筒DOHCエンジンは、791ccの排気量から、最高出力70ps/8000rpm、最大トルク6.7kg-m/6000rpmを発揮し、最高速度160km/h、0→400m加速 16.9秒を誇った。

This was the final model of the Honda Sports Series (S Series), which originated from the Sports 360/500, and was produced from 1966 to 1970.

The S800M was a model for the overseas market that appeared in 1968, and like its predecessor, the S600, was available in both open and coupe versions.

It was equipped with front disc brakes, 13-inch radial tires, an auto-tuned radio, a heater, a sub-muffler, and side markers on the front fenders and rear quarters, making it a legendary model with top-class performance among compact sports cars at the time.

The all-aluminum water-cooled inline 4-cylinder DOHC engine with 4 Keihin CV-type carburetors had a displacement of 791cc, a maximum output of 70ps/8000rpm, a maximum torque of 6.7kg-m/6000rpm, a top speed of 160km/h, and 0→400m acceleration of 16.9 seconds.
