市川市動植物園のパンチくんの成長を追ってます。
We're following the growth of Punch-kun at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden.

頻繁に行ってるので最前列には行かないで後ろから動画を撮ってます。
隙間からパンチくんの様子を見てます。
さすがにガラガラで誰もいない時は最前列で見ますけど、それ以外は後列から見てます。
食事タイムの時も後列から見てます。
I go there frequently, so I don't go to the front row; I film from the back.
I'm watching Punch-kun through the gaps.

2025/7生まれのニホンザルのパンチくん
2026/1/19から市川市動植物園のサル山で過ごすようになりました。
ママはいるはいるみたいだが初産ということと夏の暑さで育児放棄してしまいしまい…
一人では生きていけないパンチくんを飼育員の方で育ててましたが、ずっと人口で育ててもパンチくんのためにはならないってことで2026/1/19から市川市動植物園のサル山に放して経過を見てる状況。
入った当初は色々な先輩猿にいじめられながらも必死に耐えて、少しずつ成長していく姿にとても勇気を与えてくれますし癒されます。
またパンチくんが持ってるオランウータンのぬいぐるみ(オランママ)ですが、ニホンザルは人間と同じで母親に育てられて大きくなるため、母がいないとストレスになるとのことでIKEAのオランウータンのぬいぐるみをパンチくんに与えたところ、抱くようになりました。
過去にも同じようにリラックマのぬいぐるみを与えたら母？友達？と思いこんで抱いていたみたいです。
でもその猿(オトメちゃん)は1歳2ヶ月ぐらいでぬいぐるみを離して独り立ちしたみたいなので、パンチくんもあと数か月後にはオランママを離してしまうかもしれないです。
ちなみにオトメちゃんも同じ園内にいるとか！？
オランウータンのぬいぐるみを抱いてる姿が可愛く世界中に響いて大人気になりました。
皆さんで一緒にパンチくんを見守りましょう！
また2026年の春に赤ちゃん猿が4頭も産まれたので今後の成長が気になります。

Punch-kun, a Japanese macaque born in July 2025, has been living in the monkey enclosure at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden since January 19, 2026.
It seems he has a mother, but due to it being her first birth and the summer heat, she abandoned him...
The zookeepers were raising Punch-kun, who couldn't survive on his own, but they decided that raising him artificially indefinitely wouldn't be good for him, so they released him into the monkey enclosure at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden on January 19, 2026, and are currently monitoring his progress.
Initially, he was bullied by various older monkeys, but he persevered and his gradual growth is very inspiring and heartwarming.
Also, the orangutan plush toy that Punch-kun has (Orang-mama) is because, like humans, Japanese macaques are raised by their mothers, so the absence of a mother would cause him stress. They gave Punch-kun an IKEA orangutan plush toy, and he started hugging it.
In the past, he also hugged a Rilakkuma plush toy, thinking it was his mother or a friend.

However, that monkey (Otome-chan) seems to have let go of the stuffed animal and become independent at around 1 year and 2 months old, so Punch-kun might also let go of his orangutan mother in a few months.
Incidentally, Otome-chan is also in the same zoo!?
His adorable image of holding the orangutan stuffed animal has resonated all over the world, making him incredibly popular.

Also, four baby monkeys were born in the spring of 2026, so we're excited to see how they grow.
