2025年10月、音楽の力を胸に、再び中東へ訪れたSUGIZO。
そこで眼にした現実と旅の軌跡を記録したドキュメントタッチのミュージックビデオ「SUGIZO、砂漠の記憶へ -Remembering the Desert-」が公開。

2016年、初めてシリア人難民キャンプを訪れ「音楽の力を痛感した」というSUGIZOは、2018年に日本人アーティストとして初めてパレスチナを訪れ、チャリティライヴを実現。
さらに2019年にはイラク・クルディッシュ自治区エルビルにて難民キャンプ慰問ライヴを成功させた。

パンデミックを挟み約6年――2025年10月、SUGIZOは再び中東の地を訪れた。激動する世界情勢の中で、現地は大きな変化を遂げていたが、そこで出会った人々との交流を通じて、音楽が持つ本質的な力を改めて実感することとなった。

今回の旅には、SUGIZOのソロプロジェクト「COSMIC DANCE QUARTET」のメンバーやJIM-NET職員・斉藤亮平、そして本作のミュージックビデオを手がけた映画監督・井上春生らが帯同。
現地の人々と共に作り上げた“手作りのライヴ”が実現した。

去年12月にSUGIZO公式ライヴストリーミング・チャンネル「SugizoTube」にて先行公開された「SUGIZO、砂漠の記憶へ -Remembering the Desert-」を、今回正式に一般公開することとなった。

本作は、難民キャンプでの生々しい現実と、そこに確かに存在する人々の温もりや笑顔、希望を映し出すドキュメンタリー・ショートフィルムである。
SUGIZOの奏でる「FATIMA」の旋律とともに、人と人との繋がりが生まれる瞬間をぜひ体感してほしい。

今だからこそ、この映像作品をリリースしたかった。
思い入れ深い大好きな地、エルビルが攻撃に晒されている。現在日本からの渡航が困難な状況にある。
エルビルには大切な仲間たちが住んでいる。何よりほとんどの住民は罪のない、優しく善良な人々だ。
ただただ憤りしかない。

米国、イスラエル、イラン、そしてロシア、ウクライナ、他全ての紛争国に一刻も早い終戦を求めます。
全ての国が武力、暴力、殺戮ではなく、対話による外交、理解、解決の道へシフトしてくれることを痛切に願います。

今だからこそ、世界は全ての命を尊ぶことを最重要視するべきだ。

SUGIZO returns to the Middle East, carrying the power of music in his heart.
This journey is now fully unveiled as a documentary-style music video.
In 2016, SUGIZO visited a Syrian refugee camp for the first time, where he experienced firsthand the profound power of music. In 2018, he became the first Japanese artist to visit Palestine, where he held a charity concert. The following year, in 2019, he performed a goodwill live concert at a refugee camp in Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
After nearly six years, including the pandemic period, SUGIZO returned to the Middle East in October 2025. Amid a rapidly changing global landscape, the region had undergone significant transformations. Through his encounters with people there, he once again came to realize the essential power that music holds.
Joining him on this journey were members of his solo project COSMIC DANCE QUARTET, JIM-NET staff member Ryohei Saito, and film director Haruo Inoue, who directed this music video. Together with the local people, they created a truly handmade live performance.
Originally premiered last December on SUGIZO’s official live streaming channel, SugizoTube,
“SUGIZO -Remembering the Desert-” is now being officially released to the public.
This work is a documentary short film that captures the stark reality of life in refugee camps, while also illuminating the warmth, smiles, and hope that undeniably exist there.
Through the melody of “FATIMA,” performed by SUGIZO, we invite you to witness the moments when human connections are born.

【Message from SUGIZO】I felt that this was precisely the moment to release this short film.
Erbil—a place I deeply love and hold close to my heart—is now under attack by Iran, and travel from Japan has become extremely difficult.
Many of my dear friends live there. Above all, the vast majority of the people are innocent, kind, and gentle.
All I feel is profound anger.
I call for an immediate end to all conflicts—the United States, Israel, Iran as well as Russia, Ukraine, and everywhere else affected by war.
I sincerely urge all nations to turn away from force, violence, and destruction, and instead choose the path of dialogue, understanding, and peaceful resolution.
Now, more than ever, I hope the world will place the highest value on honoring every life.
