About Concierto de Samba

Born in Germany, this composer has written a wide range of works, including opera, ballet, orchestral, church, and chamber music, and won the Berlin Philharmonic Composition Competition in 1982.

Originally written for three guitars and orchestra, this "Samba Concerto" premiered with the West German Radio Symphony Orchestra.

and has since been arranged by the composer himself for three guitars and a mandolin orchestra, flute, violin, guitar, and the guitar trio heard here.

It is difficult to categorize the style of this piece as either light music or classical music.
The first movement, "Samba Cuica," makes use of the correspondence between 6 and 3 beats.

サンバ協奏曲について～

ドイツ生まれのこの作曲家はこれまでにオペラ、バレエ音楽ほか管弦楽曲、教会音楽、室内楽曲と幅広い分野の楽曲を書いており、1982年にはベルリンフィル作曲コンクールでも賞を得ている。

本来「3本のギターとオーケストラ」のために書かれたこの「サンバ協奏曲」は、西ドイツ放送響で初演された後、「３本のギターとマンドリンオーケストラ」や「フルート、バイオリン、ギター」、そしてここに聴かれる「ギタートリオ」に作曲家自身により編曲されている。

この曲の様式を軽音楽かクラシック音楽に分類することは難しい。
第１楽章である「サンバ・クイカ」は6拍子と3拍子の対応が生かされている。
