世界的ファッションデザイナーである高田賢三氏のふるさと 姫路 を巡る映像作品です。

本作では、世界的ブランド「KENZO」を創設し、世界のファッション界で活躍した高田賢三氏の原点とも言える、姫路のゆかりの地を訪ねます。
幼少期に過ごした町並み、学び舎、思い出の場所、そして晩年にデザインを残した文化施設まで――
賢三氏の人生を形づくった場所を巡りながら、その足跡をたどります。
また、姫路市文化コンベンションセンター「アクリエひめじ」に設置されている緞帳「SUNSET」と「SUNRISE」も紹介。
今も姫路の街には、高田賢三氏のデザインと精神が息づいています。

【高田賢三氏と姫路】
第二次世界大戦中の姫路空襲により、日吉神社近くにあった賢三氏の自宅は焼失しました。
その後、しばらく神社の社務所で生活していたといわれています。
旧野里街道は、実家から姫路市立野里小学校へ通う通学路でした。
今も当時の面影を残す町家が並び、懐かしい風景が残されています。
野里小学校時代には、学級新聞で4コマ漫画を連載。
そのイラストを求めてクラスメートが列を作るほどの人気だったといいます。
広嶺中学校では英語を学び始め、海外への憧れを抱くようになります。
学芸会では英語劇を披露するなど、早くから国際的な感覚を持っていました。
慶雲寺では英語塾が開かれており、中学時代に約1年間通っていました。
兵庫県立姫路西高等学校では、海外への夢をさらに強くし、外国語大学を目指すようになります。
2000年に帰国した際には、生徒企画イベントのトークショーにも出演しました。
世界文化遺産・国宝姫路城の三の丸広場では、初の野外ファッションショー「KENZO IN HIMEJI」 が開催されました。
初日は雨に見舞われましたが、姫路城天守最上階に祀られる刑部神社に参拝し青天祈願。
翌日は見事な晴天となり、ショーは大成功を収めました。
播磨国総社の境内には、かつて映画館がありました。
賢三氏は学校の試験が終わると、弟と一緒によく洋画を観に通っていたといいます。
昭和7年創業の老舗おでん専門店「十七八（となはち）」は賢三氏の好物の店。
パリから帰国した際には、おでんを買って自宅で楽しんでいたそうです。
姫路キャスパホールでは、緞帳「黎明」をデザイン。
さらに姫路市文化コンベンションセンター「アクリエひめじ」では中ホールに「SUNSET」、大ホールに「SUNRISE」が採用されています。
2022年には名古山霊苑名誉えい地に墓所が建立されました。
墓碑には直筆の「夢」という文字と、「アネモネ」「ぼたん」「バラの実」のモチーフがあしらわれています。
今も姫路の街には、世界的デザイナー高田賢三の足跡とデザインが息づいています。



Journey through Himeji, the birthplace of world-renowned designer Kenzo Takada.

This film follows the footsteps of Kenzo Takada in his hometown of Himeji, Japan.
From historic shrines and nostalgic streets to schools where his creativity first blossomed, this journey explores the places that shaped the visionary behind the global fashion brand KENZO.
The film also features the magnificent theater curtains “SUNSET” and “SUNRISE” designed by Kenzo Takada for the Himeji Cultural and Convention Center.
Even today, his artistic spirit continues to live on in his beloved hometown.

The story behind the locations

During World War II, Kenzo Takada’s family home near Hiyoshi Shrine was destroyed in the air raid on Himeji.
For a time, he lived in the shrine office.
The old Nozato Kaido road was his daily school route to Nozato Elementary School.
As a child, he published a four-panel comic series in the class newspaper and became popular among classmates who lined up for his illustrations.

At Hiromine Junior High School, he began studying English and developed a dream of living abroad.
He even performed in English plays at school events.

At Keiunji Temple, he attended an English class for a year during his junior high school days.

While studying at Himeji Nishi High School, his ambition to see the world grew stronger, leading him toward an international future.

At Sannomaru Square of Himeji Castle, the historic “KENZO in HIMEJI” outdoor fashion show was held.
The first day faced heavy rain, but after praying for clear skies at Osakabe Shrine, the following day turned bright and the show became a great success.

Harima Sosha Shrine once had a movie theater in its grounds, where Kenzo and his younger brother often watched Western films after school exams.

The long-established oden restaurant Tonahachi was one of his favorite places; whenever he returned from Paris, he would buy oden there to enjoy at home.

Kenzo Takada also designed the curtain “Reimei (Dawn)” for Himeji Caspa Hall and later created “SUNSET” and “SUNRISE” for the Himeji Cultural and Convention Center.

Today, the spirit and design of Kenzo Takada continue to live in his hometown of Himeji.
