無印良品は世界の洗濯の風景を求めて旅に出ました。布が太陽の光を浴び、風にそよいで乾いていく。そんな世界共通の営みに、水や空気のように暮らしを支えたいという無印良品の思いを重ね、自分たちのあるべき姿を見つめ直しました。

イタリア
旧市街の住民は、建物の間に洗濯ロープを張り、滑車で洗濯物を繰り出して干します。狭い路地を抜ける海風と、差し込む日の光を吸い込むように、白いシーツがはためいたり、膨らんだり。ナポリではおなじみの、けれど思わず見とれてしまう光景です。

MUJI set out on a journey to capture laundry scenes from around the world. Bathed in sunlight and swaying in the breeze, clothes dry naturally in the open air. Focusing on this simple, universal ritual, MUJI has reflected on our aspiration to support and enrich daily life, like air and water, encouraging us to rethink the direction we should be taking.

Residents of the old town hang washing lines between buildings and use pulleys to send them out to dry. The white sheets flutter and billow as they soak in the sea breeze that flows through the narrow alleys, illuminated by the sunlight that filters in. Despite its familiarity, this scene never fails to fascinate and charm.
