Academy Awards® accredited, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, now in its 23rd year, announcing a project sponsored and co-sponsored by the 2021 Japan Cultural Expo to explore "The Beauty of Japan" together with filmmakers, directors, and artists from Japan and overseas.

For this year's symposium, we have invited professional women in the film industry to discuss the role of women in film in the U.S and Japan. The discussion will also include the subject of "beauty," looking back through history at the Japanese women who contributed in establishing the Japanese culture of beauty and have been highly regarded abroad as well.

今年で23年目の開催を迎える米国アカデミー賞公認 国際短編映画祭「ショートショート フィルムフェスティバル & アジア（SSFF & ASIA）」は、令和３年度日本博主催・共催型プロジェクトとして、国内外の映像関係者、監督、作家達と一緒に「日本の美」を考える企画を実施する中、シンポジウムを実施しました。

今回は映画シーンで活躍する女性の方々をお招きし、日米映画業界における女性制作関係者の参画情勢について語りました。また「美」については古代から現代までの日本美意識の構築に貢献した海外でも注目されてきた日本女性を振り返りつつ、映画業界でも女性参画が増えることによっての期待についてもトークしたシンポジウムのショートバージョンです。
