京都市交響楽団は、1956年創立し、日本で唯一、自治体が運営に責任を持ち、＜身近な存在として、市民に愛され誇りとされる＞＜文化芸術都市・京都の象徴となる＞オーケストラを目指している。2023年常任指揮者に沖澤のどか、2024年首席客演指揮者にヤン・ヴィレム・デ・フリーントが就任。京都コンサートホールでの定期演奏会をはじめ、小中学生対象の音楽鑑賞公演、0歳から楽しめる演奏会、アウトリーチ活動等、多彩な活動を行っている。2026年には創立70周年を迎え、＜世界に向けて最高の音楽を発信し続ける＞オーケストラとして更なる発展を目指す。

The City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1956 under the management of Kyoto City Government to create a new culture in the city. It had a period of intense rehearsal led by Carl Caelus the first Chief Conductor.
In 2023, CKSO welcomed Nodoka Okisawa as its 14th Chief Conductor, and her refined sensitivity and powerful drive has brought a breath of fresh air to the orchestra. In the following year, CKSO invited Jan Willem de Vriend as its Principal Guest Conductor.
