Curriculum Vitae: Yoichi MASUZOE
Graduated from Tokyo University in 1971. Continued research on international politics in Paris, Geneva and Munich. Returned to Japan in 1978, becoming an associate professor in 1979. Taught political science at his alma mater for ten years.
Elected as member of the House of Councillors (Senate) in 2001. Specialized in law, diplomacy, national strategy and public health. Served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defense in 2005 and 2006.
Appointed Minister of Health, Labour and Social Welfare by Prime Minister Abe in August 2007. Continued holding this ministerial post under the consecutive administrations of Fukuda and Aso.
Elected Governor of Tokyo in February 2014.. Resigned in June 2016.
