Lecture Title: What Is “To Live?” A New Perspective on Studying Human Beings (2024.6.5)

Lecturer: Masahiro Niitsuma, Associate Professor, Graduate School of System Design and Management, Keio University

Even if we were to completely disassemble the human body and examine every single piece in detail, we could never uncover the true source that holds it together and drives its movement. Yet it is precisely this invisible force that constitutes what we call ""life"" itself. I have come to believe that studying this force requires a perspective fundamentally different from conventional approaches.
In this presentation, I will introduce one such perspective: an overview of ""bodily tendencies,"" a concept that focuses on the dynamics of energy equilibrium and the directionality of aggregation, primarily as observed in the human body.
